Our Spiritual Identity in Christ Series

Thought Sources: The Word of God.

Below you will find a collection of verses that describe biblical meditation and the importance of limiting mental influences.

Galatians 6:7-8
[7] "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. [8] For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap eternal life."

In order to get the most out of mediation, all your other messages to your mind have to be in agreement with one another - otherwise you'll never truly create the attitudes that you desire no matter how hard you try.

Think of it this way. You're in a boat and there are a number of people rowing this boat for you. You tell one of them to row in a certain way so that you go in a certain direction. But if all the other people rowing for you are going in the opposite direction - that one person rowing will have little or no impact. The boat will never go the way you want.

Philippians 4:8
[8] "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things."

Biblical meditation requires that you get rid of all your negative thought patterns and create a new belief system. You have to train your mind to work differently. You need to practice, train and work properly. You need to train your mind so that you do your thinking with God's word as the standard.
